These virtual realities directly tie into standard 5.L.4:
"The student will demonstrate an understanding of relationships among biotic and abiotic factors within terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems." Each of the virtual realities above represent a different terrestrial or aquatic ecosystem (grasslands, forests, oceans, and lakes). The students would enter each virtual reality and view the different biotic and abiotic factors present. These virtual realities would enable the students travel to the different ecosystems to better understand how each functions! After or while viewing, the students would complete a T-Chart in which they would note the abiotic and biotic factors present in each ecosystem. Early finishers would be instructed to complete a virtual reality regarding biomes. Even though biomes are not introduced in fifth grade, I feel this virtual reality activity is great for enriching students’ knowledge. |
