I modeled my gamification idea after Megan Ellis' gamified classroom! I have created my very own Google Classroom. In the virtual classroom, I added a level up-poster that describes how many XP are correlated with the different levels and what rewards are associated with each. There is also a mock leaderboard that is ready to be implemented during my field experience in October. I have also created a Google Drive folder the contains a "quest" for students to complete to earn extra XP. Of course, when I activate this gamification system in my classroom, it is my goal to have over forty quests for students to complete. Lastly, I created a Google Form that students would use to turn in their completed quests with a screenshot verifying its completion.
After creating these gamification resources for my classroom, I realized just how much thought, time, and effort Megan Ellis must have put forth to make her gamified classroom a success. I believe this is a great system that teachers can create over the summer to implement into their classrooms. Although I am nowhere near ready to implement this in a classroom, I am excited to do so in the future! |
